We are a 100% volunteer-run team committed to fostering connection and creativity.
In addition to our main event, you'll find us sparking meaningful conversations at a variety of gatherings; think networking socials, coffee chats, workshops, and virtual campfires. We hope to see you soon!

What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSugar Creek Women, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxSugar Creek Women event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. Our event is operated under a license from TED.
Connecting The Past & Future
The intention behind our name, TEDxSugar Creek Women, is to recognize the indigenous tribes that first lived on our land. Sugar Creek is thought to be named after the Sugaree Native Americans that first lived along the banks of the body of water which ran through the Carolinas into what is now Mecklenburg county. There is a wide debate on the origin, spelling, and pronunciation of the name. We hope this inspires you to learn more about the history of Charlotte and the first communities who lived here.
